$3M Worth of Pure Fentanyl Seized by Missouri State Highway Patrol During Bust

“To date, this is the largest Fentanyl seizure in the state of Missouri”

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Missouri – On November 1, 2017, at approximately 2 p.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway stopped a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan for a traffic violation. The vehicle was traveling northbound on Interstate 55, in New Madrid County.

Troopers say the driver was identified as Angel Larar-Esteban, 27, of Phoenix, Arizona. During the traffic stop, several indications of criminal activity were observed causing the trooper to become suspicious. Consent to search the vehicle was requested and granted. During the search, 4.8 pounds of pure Fentanyl was sized. The street value is estimated to be more than $3 million. To date, this is the largest Fentanyl seizure in the state of Missouri. Larar-Esteban was arrested for felony drug trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child, the patrol said in a statement.
