Free Agent Zack Greinke Signs With The Diamondbacks

The deal, pending a physical per Rosenthal, is worth a reported $206.5 million over six years per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, which at $34.3 million is the highest average annual value in MLB history.

It appears we are running out of ace starting pitchers who will still be available at baseball’s winter meetings next week. The latest to sign is Zack Greinke, who chose the Diamondbacks over the rival Dodgers and Giants, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Greinke will reportedly get $206.5 million over six years.

Greinke signs three days after David Price agreed to a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Boston Red Sox. On Monday, the Detroit Tigers made official their five-year, $110 million contract with Jordan Zimmermann.

Greinke, 32, was 19-3 with the Dodgers in 2015, leading the major leagues with a 1.66 ERA and 0.844 WHIP. He finished second in National League Cy Young Award voting, but did take home his second straight Gold Glove.
