The Rams get the No 1 overall pick in the April 28 draft, plus Tennessee’s fourth- and sixth-round picks while the Titans get the Rams’ top four picks this year (a first, two seconds and a third), plus Los Angeles’s first- and third-round picks in 2017.

(Daily Mail) - The Los Angeles Rams have executed a blockbuster trade for the Tennessee Titans’ number one overall pick in this month’s NFL Draft.

The move was confirmed by both teams on Thursday afternoon, with the Rams moving up from the 15th pick in the first round to get the chance to snag the top player on their board in two weeks’ time.

For that privilege, LA gave up six selections including their first-round picks this year and next, as well as two second-rounders, one in the third and another in the third round of next year, while the Titans also turned over fourth and sixth round selections this year as part of the deal.

No team has come from as far back as 15th to acquire the first-overall pick and it is the first time that selection has changed hands since 2001 when the Atlanta Falcons moved up four spots to take quarterback Michael Vick.

The move has seemingly been made to allow the Rams, who face the New York Giants at Twickenham in October, to select their own franchise quarterback to bring in their new era after relocating from St Louis at the end of the 2015 season.

North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz and California’s Jared Goff are considered the two top prospects in that position and it is now likely that one of those will be under centre when the Rams play in London in six months’ time.

The Titans were never in the hunt for Wentz or Goff having taken promising signal caller Marcus Mariota with the second pick in last year’s draft but LA felt they needed to jump above the quarterback-needy Cleveland Browns, who own the second pick.
