One would think, in this day and age, people would no longer want to put other people to death just for who they happen to love. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Right here, in the United States, there is a very well-known pastor who is calling for the death of LGBT individuals. Pastor Kevin Swanson hosted his “National Religious Liberties Conference” this past weekend where, on multiple occasions, he cited Biblical passages that allegedly call for the death of gay individuals. He speaks with a fervor of complete delusion and is visibly upset that LGBT people are allowed to live in our society. He even says he’ll go to jail for his cause.
If that wasn’t bad enough, three Republican presidential candidates openly support Swanson, and displayed this support by attending Swanson’s rally and by taking part in his Q&A.
Senator Ted Cruz, Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Gov. Mike Huckabee all attended the rally with no qualms whatsoever.
One person who is not about to let these candidates vying for President of the United States get away with not only LGBT discrimination, but supporting the death of LGBT individuals, is MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.
On the Monday broadcast of Maddow’s show, she dove deep into this scary proclamation that gay people should be put to death, as well as the Republican candidates who openly support that proclamation by attending the conference. She said:
“A pretty major theme of the event both in terms of the literature that was available at the event and the way the host of the conference spoke from the stage, a significant theme was the practical challenges and the timing of how exactly and when exactly the United States of America should start rounding up gay people in this country in order to execute them.”
Continuing, she says:
“It really was a ‘kill the gays’ call to arms. This was a conference about the necessity of the death penalty as a punishment for homosexuality.”
Maddow would also like the question of if candidates would attend a ‘kill the gays’ rally to be asked at the Fox News GOP Presidential Debate.
It’s almost as if it’s not controversial anymore for Republican candidates to be this extreme in their thinking. Quite honestly, all it’s going to take is for one deranged individual to take this call to arms seriously and go out and kill gay people. Hell, it is already happening across the nation. And this call to arms is no better than ISIS, who are killing gay people left and right.
These Republican candidates need to be exposed. This mentality needs to be exposed. It is downright terrifying to believe that someone would believe so fervently in their cause that they would actually kill because of it. The fact that three potential leaders of the nation openly support this is not only appalling, it’s reprehensible.
Thank you for exposing them so beautifully, Dr. Maddow.
She begins beautifully tearing them apart at the 5:55 mark:
