In light of yesterday’s shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the question on many American’s minds is whether or not this nation is being attacked by Christian terrorists. This is not the first time that Americans have been killed at the hands of the right-wing fundamentalist Christians that believe that murder is a sin. In fact, since 9/11, there have been 13 attacks on abortion clinics by Christian Terrorists as opposed to 5 attacks to anything by Islamic terrorists. The shooter, 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear, appears to be a right-wing conservative who was known to distribute anti-Obama propaganda to his neighbors.
On July 27th, 2008, a devout Christian and anti-abortionist named Jim David Adkisson, walked into the Knoxville Unitarian Universalist Church while children were performing and began to fire on them. The reason he chose that Church was because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country.

According to the National Abortion Federation, there have been 17 attempted murders, 383 death threats, 153 incidents of assault or battery, 13 wounded, 100 butyric acid attacks, 373 physical invasions, 41 bombings, 655 anthrax threats, and 3 kidnappings committed against abortion providers since 1977. All barbaric attacks, all carried out by Christians.
- March 10, 1993: Dr. David Gunn of Pensacola, Florida was fatally shot during a protest. He had been the subject of wanted-style posters distributed by Operation Rescue in the summer of 1992. Michael F. Griffin was found guilty of Gunn’s murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
- July 29, 1994: Dr. John Britton and James Barrett, a clinic escort, were both shot to death outside another facility, the Ladies Center, in Pensacola. Rev. Paul Jennings Hill was charged with the killings. Hill received a death sentence and was executed on September 3, 2003. The clinic in Pensacola had been bombed before in 1984 and was also bombed subsequently in 2012.
- December 30, 1994: Two receptionists, Shannon Lowney and Lee Ann Nichols, were killed in two clinic attacks in Brookline, Massachusetts. John Salvi was arrested and confessed to the killings. He died in prison and guards found his body under his bed with a plastic garbage bag tied around his head. Salvi had also confessed to a non-lethal attack in Norfolk, Virginia days before the Brookline killings.
- January 29, 1998: Robert Sanderson, an off-duty police officer who worked as a security guard at an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, was killed when his workplace was bombed. Eric Robert Rudolph, who was also responsible for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing, was charged with the crime and received two life sentences as a result.
- October 23, 1998: Dr. Barnett Slepian was shot to death with a high-powered rifle at his home in Amherst, New York. His was the last in a series of similar shootings against providers in Canada and northern New York state which were all likely committed by James Kopp. Kopp was convicted of Slepian’s murder after being apprehended in France in 2001.
- May 31, 2009: Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed by Scott Roeder as Tiller served as an usher at a church in Wichita, Kansas.
That is not all. because on October 22, 2015, a Planned Parenthood clinic in Claremont, New Hampshire was vandalized by a juvenile terrorist. Damaged in the attack were computers, furniture, plumbing fixtures, office equipment, medical equipment, phone lines, windows, and walls. The flooding that resulted from the vandalism also damaged an adjacent business.

How about the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombings? Timothy McVeigh was obsessed with a group known as the Branch Davidians, who resisted an ATF raid on their citadel at Mount Carmel in 1993. Two years later, he detonated a fertilizer bomb at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people, including 19 children, and wounded 648 others. America’s most notorious domestic terrorist, this guy was a fanatic.
Here is a chart showing Christian Terrorism directed at Planned Parenthood:
When the Right-wing Republicans say that we need to send the Refugees from Syria and Iraq back because Muslims are terrorists, they paint with a broad stroke. Many of the people being judged would never consider doing anything of the sort. The problem here is the fundamentalists of the religions. They are intolerant of any other religion, or they are willing to kill to force their particular brand of religion, be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism or any other religion, on everyone.
Christians in Garland, Texas purposely picked a fight, spearheaded by a real bigot and fundamentalist, Pamela Geller. She dared Muslims to stand up for their own beliefs. When two Muslims took them up on their challenge, Geller cried “Terrorism.” It was a trap she devised in order to make all Muslims look bad. It is people like her, McVeigh, Kopp, Roeder, Rudolph, Salvi, Hill, Griffin, and Adkisson make all Christians look bad.
Many people derided then Candidate Obama for saying back in 2008, “And it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” But when these people hear about refugees who want to escape war and violence, they start hollering for more guns and how that they do not want the Islamization of America. Conservatives, such as Dear have been calling for President Obama’s impeachment for years, calling him a Muslim and worse, as one person called him Satanic over at The Blaze.
The leaders of the Republican party are using the fear that some Christians have in order to gain power and control the government. It is just like what has happened in Turkey. Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan’s party has obtained power by appealing to the fears of those that are Muslim and partnered with those that are Islamic Fundamentalist, to control a nation that for the most part is not Fundamentalist. The result is a police state over it’s citizens to make sure no uprising can take place, and supporting more Islamic Fundamentalist terrorism.
By appealing to the Christian Bible, Christian morality and culture as well as to guns, the Republicans are whipping up the Christians into a paranoid state, to which the Christian terrorists gobble up as a mandate from the Christian God saying that they must go and conquer and kill in his name. They set out to take over state legislatures and city governments so as to make sure that no other religious group can remake America into some “Anti-Christian” state. They blame the liberals for all things un-Christian in the nation, which includes all of the crime that occurs. They are willing to accept that the Christian terrorists, although they will never call them that, will take out some lives, but they will divert the attention of their fellow Christian’s to the refugees and the possibility that one in 80,000 might be a terrorist. They will shout that in the world, 99% of all terrorist attacks are carried out by Muslims, while purposely ignoring that here in the US, the vast majority of terrorist acts are carried out by Christians.
Even in 9/11, Islam wasn’t the clear root of the threat we faced. During the National Commission on 9/11, Senator Hamilton wanted to inquire on why more emphasis wasn’t given on the religious motivations of the attackers. FBI Special Agent Adam Drucker responded that only some of the men were motivated by religion. During the hearings you can hear that one of the three terrorist pilots, Jarrah attended Christian schools in Lebanon. He drank and went to dance clubs proving he wasn’t in line with the beliefs of Islamic Fundamentalists, yet he found different reasons to hate the United States.
FBI Special Agent James Fitzgerald pointed out, “I believe they feel a sense of outrage against the United States. They identify with the Palestinian problem, they identify with people who oppose repressive regimes, and I believe they tend to focus their anger on the United States.” Senator Gorton asked, “My question to you is, is in your view that ideology fundamentally religiously driven, however perverted those religious ideas may be?” His response: “I would agree with that. It’s driven by religion, but a warped version of Islam. There are a billion Muslims in the world who don’t buy into that. . . I think, as I think Commissioner Gorelick mentioned, we need to win the hearts and minds of the other people, so that they will stand up and call these people to account, they will aid us in the fight against terrorism, and to the extent that we need to take military action, that countries will allow us to use their countries as bases of support, or not oppose us, because we need to win over the people to our side who are not in that extremist camp.” In other words, there is a danger from those with perverted forms of Islam, but it isn’t the views of most Muslims. We need to win over non-extremists like the refugees that clearly chose not to join the terrorists, but to go through a long process of becoming a heavily scrutinized citizen of another country.
Any attempt to disarm the Fundamentalist Christian Terrorists is viewed by Christians as an attempt to take away gun rights from all Christians so that the Christians can all be rounded up, thrown into concentration camps and gassed just like the Jews in Nazi Germany. So they have begun to equate Guns with their Bibles, with some even suggesting that the Sword of Faith is a gun. Religion gone amok has caused the rallying cry to go forth to any and all who wish to stand against the liberals and non-Christians, even if it means that some Christians will die.
When the sanctity of life means nothing anymore, the terrorists have won. They claim to be fighting for the sanctity of life, but in fact are killing whomever they deem to be a threat to their Fundamental Christian beliefs. It is like how Republican Presidential Candidate and Pastor Mike Huckabee can call homosexuals and transgender people a cancer on society while praising a Christian pedophile. Or by forcing the people of this nation to accept the new US motto of “In God We Trust”, with the explicit understanding that it is only the Christian God being referred to here, instead of the Original Motto of E Pluribus Unum - “Out of many, one”.
I am not saying that all Christians are Christian Terrorists. Probably less than 5% of all Christians are Fundamentalists. However, they claim that 100% of Muslims are Islamic terrorists when the truth is that probably less than 1% of all Muslims are of that belief. The terrorists are such a small portion of the population - regardless of religion, but they cause such horrific crimes against humanity that we as citizens of this world that we live on need to stand up and say enough is enough. Stop race, religious and nationality baiting so as to encourage the terrorists to kill even more. Stop using religion as an excuse to murder anyone. Stop provoking other religions to stand up for themselves and fight back. Stop the incitement of violence and stop the harm that is being inflicted upon the world.
Understand this: if your God requires of you to own guns or any other form of weapon and use them to harm and/or kill others that do not call on his or her name, then the majority of this world does not want to follow your God. If your God can not prevent people from being killed without you killing them, then your God is powerless. If your God demands that you show your love and devotion to him or her by sacrificing human lives, then your God is vile. If your God demands that you discriminate against humans in order to please him or her, then you and your God is a bigot. As long as you hold on to your God’s holy book with one hand and a weapon in the other, then we, as citizens of this world, will denounce your God. Do not even try to teach us about love when you keep a gun pointed at our collective heads.
We do not need freedom of religion, but rather what this country needs is freedom from religion. We further call on President Obama and Congress to immediately naturalize all of the refugees that we take in.
